You add chocolate, it feels like a variety of foods and drinks are more delicious.  In fact, chocolate is just as hungry as it is eaten.  Well, it shows that behind the delicious taste, chocolate has many benefits for our body.  However, many people do not say that eating chocolate can increase fat and blood sugar?  So which one is correct?  Is chocolate healthy or even risky for health?  Find the answer here.

Chocolate comes from the fruit of the cocoa tree.  The fruit has a unique shape like a ball.  Brown beans inside.  Well, these chocolate seeds will be dried, fermented, cleaned, and processed into the chocolate you eat.

Is it true that chocolate can prevent free radicals?

Black chocolate turns out containing lots of flavonoids.  The flavonoids in chocolate act as antioxidants that can block the body's free radicals.

Resistance to free radicals can increase the body's resistance and protect the body from diseases, especially cancer.  Chocolate antioxidants can also help the aging process.

In addition to acting as a natural antioxidant, chocolate has many other health benefits.  This makes experts consider chocolate healthier and better for consumption.

Chocolate contains magnesium, copper, potassium and calcium.  These nutrients play a very good role for the health of the blood vessels.  Black chocolate, or what is known as dark chocolate, contains 36 mg of magnesium per 100 times the active calories.  Magnesium is a nutrient that is needed for protein synthesis, muscle relaxation, and energy production.  Magnesium also has the ability to protect the heart from irregular heartbeats.

The copper content of chocolate is very useful for iron transfer in the body, glucose metabolism, growth of children and development of the brain.  Compared to chocolate milk, dark chocolate has a higher copper content.  Chocolate milk contains only 10 percent copper, while dark chocolate contains 31 percent.

The potassium in chocolate can reduce the risk of high blood pressure (hypertension).  Black chocolate contains 114 milligrams of potassium (or more than 2 percent of the daily nutritional equivalent rate).

Black chocolate contains polyphenols that can lower blood pressure levels.  The antioxidant content of chocolate is able to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) levels which can reduce the risk of heart disease.

Flavonoids in dark chocolate are able to regulate the absorption of carbohydrates in the gastrointestinal tract, protect and maintain the function of the hearth beta cells (which is often disrupted with type 2 diabetes) and increase insulin sensitivity.  A stable insulin level will stabilize your body's glucose.

In addition to these benefits, Dark Chocolate has many other unique capabilities, such as:

Increases blood flow to the brain and heart.  This will improve your thinking skills.

Apparently, consuming chocolate can lead to feelings of happiness.

Chocolate can make us more refreshed and awake, because chocolate contains caffeine (albeit much less than coffee).

Are all types of chocolate healthy and nutritious?

Chocolate in the market is divided into three parts.  Black chocolate, white chocolate, and milk chocolate.  Of the three groups, dark chocolate had the least amount of fat (28 percent), while white chocolate had the highest fat content at 30.9 percent.  For protein content, white chocolate has the highest protein content which is equal to 8 percent.

Based on the blend, dark chocolate does not contain a very small amount of milk or sweeteners, it is usually unlike other milk chocolates that are usually combined with milk or sweets.

In fact, chocolate has many positive effects on the health of your body.  However, you need to look at the composition of the chocolate you choose.  Especially if you do not eat dark chocolate or pure chocolate, but chocolate candy which is mixed with various ingredients in it.

You need to pay attention to the glucose content and calories in chocolate.  The presence of such ingredients will actually have a negative effect on your blood sugar levels, especially for those who have diabetes mellitus.

So, if you choose the right type, such as low-fat dark chocolate, it’s actually healthy chocolate.  Also pay attention to the parts.  There is no need to eat extra chocolate to get health benefits.  Eat enough, but regularly.
